Welcome
Hannah Mitchell is a young emerging artist from Albury. She discovered her passion for Visual Arts whilst attending high school, where she completed her first major body of work which was based on surrealism. It was during these years at high school combined with the endless hours spent on her major body of work that she realised it was her dream to become an artist and make that her life.
From high school Hannah continued her education, studying at Albury TAFE to complete her Certificate IV in Fine Art. In 2007 her work was selected for an exhibition at the Albury Gallery named “delta”, this would be her first exhibition. Hannah then moved to Wagga Wagga to further her studies in the arts and completed a Diploma in Fine Art, Advanced Diploma in Fine Art, Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) and a Bachelor of Education with a focus on the teaching of visual arts. During this time her work was selected to be shown in two more exhibitions called “About Face” at the CSU Regional Achieves Foyer Gallery and “On the Mark” at the Links Gallery in the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery.
Hannah’s major passions are painting, printmaking and photography spending countless hours building bodies of work in these areas. She is strongly inspired by music and the idea of portraying music in a visual form. Her many prints on display illustrate this
Hannah is well versed in art theory and practice and has completed vast research on colour theory, which looks at how different colours evoke an array of emotions within the viewer. Her work captures emotions and movement of different pieces of music, through her use of line work and colour. Recently Hannah has also been exploring the incorporation of literature into her printmaking. She has used old book pages to print on and created various series based on the chapter titles.
Currently Hannah has a focus on printmaking and has recently been involved in the “Artists@Work” program at the Albury Regional Art Gallery. Her printmaking was displayed to the public and she was able to interact and demonstrate the process in which she creates her artworks. She also took part in a workshop during this time called “6 Artists, 6 Visions” where she helped the public make their own prints.
Hannah's plans for the future include completing her Masters in Art History and Curatorial Studies through Australian National University and living a life filled with art.
